Institute on Aging Joins My Dutch Uncle Client Roster

In the last quarter of 2011, My Dutch Uncle welcomed Institute on Aging (IOA) to its family of clients. My Dutch Uncle is working with IOA to build its professional development capacity, increase board involvement in gift solicitation, and firmly establish its brand as the go-to source for aging-related information and services in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Institute on Aging is a community-based nonprofit that touches the lives of thousands of seniors in San Francisco, Marin, and the Peninsula, offering guidance and resources to help Bay Area seniors and adults with disabilities live independently. A respected San Francisco senior care resource for over 30 years, IOA began as the successor to the Mount Zion Hospital Adult Day Health Center. Today IOA provides programs and services including memory assessment and care, assessing geriatric health needs, in-home care and assistance, adult day programs and health services, and social and life quality enrichment.

In 2011, IOA opened its new, state-of-the-art Senior Campus at 3575 Geary Boulevard—now the main location for IOA’s services. This innovative facility also provides affordable housing: 150 expertly designed independent living spaces managed by Bridge Housing Corporation.

Among other key tasks, My Dutch Uncle is working with IOA to overhaul its donor database, identify new and productive sources of grant funding, expand its direct fee-for-service programs, expedite its move into “retail” fundraising, and help maximize the value of its events. It is also helping the organization navigate a leadership transition, as Tom Briody becomes president and CEO of IOA, replacing long-time CEO David S. Werdegar.
